Is Pen 2 Paper happening this year? That Facebook page has been pretty quiet...
YES, we are still on! Pen 2 Paper coordinators Laura and Susie have managed to dig themselves out of their workload from the Legislature and are ready to get to work on the 2013 edition of CTD's statewide, disability-focused creative writing contest.
Because our work for the session, though, we'll be trimming back the scope of Pen 2 Paper this year. For entrants, that means two things. First, there will be no divisions; all entries will be evaluated by a single panel of three judges. Second, based on the judges' panel scores, we'll select one grand prize winner only, who will be awarded $500. While we can't offer 1st or 2nd place prizes, selected entrants will still have the opportunity to read their entries at the Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival in November. We know these changes aren't ideal, but we chose to focus our efforts on a smaller scale operation with the time we have left, rather than try to stretch our resources too thin.
And next year (note joyously: not a session year), we'll go back to the way we've always done it: lots of division, lots of winners, lots of prizes!
