Calling All Artists!

CTD recognizes that reshaping our cultural landscape doesn't only happen at the Capitol, and we are committed to producing outstanding arts events each year. All of our events and competitions are open to individuals with and without disabilities. Parents, activists, healthcare workers, friends; everyone has a story to tell!

Since 2004, our annual Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival screens short and feature films that celebrate disability culture. And we've attracted international attention doing so! The short film competition portion of the festival calls on filmmakers of all ages to share their own stories and insights on disability.

But CTD isn't only interested in film. Going into its fourth year, the Pen 2 Paper creative writing competition seeks pieces of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and comics that treat the topic of disability. Pen 2 Paper's goals are to give writers with disabilities a forum where they can share their work and to challenge all Texans of all ages to rethink and express their stories, perspectives, fears, and discoveries about disability.

Photographers may be interested in the Adjusted Lens photo competition, our most recent arts initiative. Although photos must include the portrayal of disability, the photographer does not have to be a person with a disability. After all, we're looking for the most interesting, accurate and intriguing photographic representation of disability.
